My blogging has been less than frequent of late, mainly because I need to sort my general organisation out and because my workload is in a funny limbo state that means some days I have mountains and then the next day very little but loads to sort out from the previous day, if that makes sense? Anyway, I saw this post over at Mummy Daddy and Me Makes Three and wasn’t alone in thinking it would make a great linky/meme type thing. So, I was even more pleased when I saw Katie had made it into a linky and although I didn’t participate last week, I thought I’d give it ago this time :).
My Week That Was…is a brilliant idea and I’m glad to take part. As it says over at Mummy Daddy and Me, it’s a way of cataloguing all the little things you get up to, in addition to celebrating the big moments.
This week hasn’t been crazily busy for us although it’s been unlike most others as all three of us were home from Monday to Sunday, which NEVER happens, in fact, it hasn’t happened once since Jessamy was born. That was nice anyway and very unusual.
Monday - Jessamy went back to her childminder, even though we were both home she hadn’t been for nearly two weeks and we were really conscious that she’d not be comfortable going back. When Andy dropped her off she was a bit uncomfortable but they said she had a really good day and ate everything we packed for her which is a first. I decided to stop sending formula or any milk at all with her as she simply hasn’t been drinking it and it’s a waste of their time and ours when it comes to all the messing about prepping and sterilising it. Maybe this is why she ate more?
We ended up going into town ’cause my bankcard had decided to stop working and we needed to find the money to actually PAY the child minder. I tried, once again, to spend my John Lewis vouchers but had no luck and ended up buying more stuff for operation-sorting-the-damned-house-out
Tuesday – A really exciting day in terms of work (if you could call my work exciting). I got a big, albeit short term contract, which earned me a little bit of extra cash for the next month and make me think a bit more about how I could really make this work. Work’s a funny issue, in that, I know I can do it, I know that I’m good at it but I don’t know how to make it all HAPPEN. If that makes sense? I’m good at what I do but I don’t know how to sell it…
Wednesday – what an exciting day Wednesday was. We went on a mini hunt to Lidl to look for a the spice rack I saw advertised on Hot Deals. There were supposed to be fully stocked Schwartz spice racks with 24 filled tubs but well, they didn’t have any so instead, I ended up with a huge tub of potato salad, some more meat for my hugely meaty freezer and that was that.
Thursday – this was a BIG day for my girl. She finally and much later than most people would imagine, went into her own room for the first time. I’ve been trying to get the room ready and it’s on its way to being right (especially as I ordered some lovely wall letters from Hollyberry Boutique). There’s been a huge improvement in Jessa’s sleeping since she moved in there. Thursday night she slept from 7pm until nearly 8am and well, since then it’s not been far off that, I’ve been in for a couple of 4am-5am feeds but on the whole, completely different sleeping baby!
Friday – Friday = the first slow cooker success in our house! It was only attempt #3 and I didn’t even make it but pork goulash WORKED damnit and it tasted good.
Weekend – we restarted watching Lost in an attempt to finish it by the end of the week. Finishing Lost is on my 101 Things List and it will happen. Also, the kitchen got painted! May sound ridiculous but the kitchen has needed decorating for ever and it’s on the way to being done. This means, when the landlord comes in February to renew the contract (that’s a whole other post really) he can actually go into the kitchen for the first time in two years…providing the floor gets done on Tuesday and Wednesday next week!
So did you enjoy my week? I think I did, it wasn’t bad in comparison to others and well, I enjoyed all of us being home and it meant it was very different from the average week. I’m hoping next week will be another example of a different kind of week as I’m planning a few new things and making a couple of changes but we’ll see.
Pop over to Mummy Daddy and Me to see the other entries in the linky :)

A seriously productive week for you! Go you mofo. Go you. (not sarcastic at all…just so you know, you know)
Haha well yes as usually I do nothing :)
Sounds like you had a very exciting week- especially the part about Jessamy going in her own room- we moved Mads in at 6 months and her sleep was so much better after she switched- god it feels so long ago she was in our room! Also the work thing sounds exciting- what is it that you do? I hate my job since going back after mat leave but I slog on and on just for the money! Thanks for linking up x
I know, I feel stupid for leaving it so long if I'm honest but glad she's in there now!
I'm a freelance writer, write mainly for all sorts of websites about all sorts of things – it's not exciting but it does pay the bills :). Hopefully you'll find a job which you like better soon? x
